Mike Caputo is the founder and CEO of 1st Choice Construction. In his role, Mike provides inspired leadership to our entire team while creating and overseeing the implementation of the company's development strategy. His honest and thoughtful approach to decision-making is well-respected and has helped him build a reputation as a valued voice within the industry. He received his collegiate degree at Loyola University of Maryland and has held several leadership positions prior to the establishment of 1st Choice Construction in 2010. His most notable career accomplishment is earning a coveted ranking on the Inc 5000 list for three consecutive years. Mike's passion for delivering superior quality and service is the reason why 1st Choice was created. He is also no stranger to hard work and commitment. Alongside 1st Choice, Mike also owns a cabinet wholesale business and lives on a farm with his family in Lexington, NC.
Stephanie Pepp joined the company in 2012 and is responsible for corporate technology development and infrastructure management while overseeing the IT and Logistics departments. She began her career with 1st Choice Construction as Director of Operations and has played an integral part in the foundation of the company policies and project management processes. She introduced and developed our Smartsheet systems as the foundation of our infrastructure and continues development in this area. Stephanie is a member of the Executive Management team, specializing in the strategic development of the company. She possesses a NASCLA Commercial General Building License. Stephanie resides on Tybee Island, GA.
Arlindo Santos received a B.S. in Business Administration from Pace University in 1996. He continued his education by earning an M.B.A. from Pace University in 2003. Arlindo joined 1st Choice in 2012 and has been the Chief Financial Officer since 2017. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations for planning, implementing and managing all financial-related activities of the company. Additionally, Arlindo oversees our Human Resources department. He is a member of the Executive Management team, which is responsible for the design and implementation of business strategies, plans, and procedures.
Doug Greene joined the company in 2013 and oversees the day-to-day operational functions and implementation of company strategies, contract agreements, ensures the execution of the company's business plan, and adherence to our business model through communication with employees. Doug started his career with 1st Choice Construction Management as a Project Manager and he takes a hands-on approach with business development and client retention initiatives. Doug is a member of the Executive Management team, specializing in conflict resolution and risk management. Doug resides in Mooresville, NC.
Jefferson Bell joined the company in 2013 and is responsible for the procurement and management of materials and equipment, developing relationships with trade partners, and coordination of interior renovation projects for the organization. He began his career with 1st Choice Construction as Project Coordinator and has played a critical role in establishing the company's policies and procedures with regards to procurement, materials management, and scheduling. Jefferson is a member of the 1st Choice Construction Leadership Team and currently resides in Charleston, SC.
Earl Brown joined the company in 2015 and is responsible for leading our Estimating department. Earl oversees all projects in the bidding process, ensures that all RFP’s fall within our core competencies, validates that all budgets are comprehensive and accurately reflect each project’s scope of work, that they meet our client’s needs, and will be profitable for the company. Constantly searching for better processes, always teaching his team, and turning their mistakes into learning opportunities are the things that drive Earl to take 1st Choice Construction to the next level. He is a third-generation licensed General Contractor with 30+ years of experience and his team of Estimators, Coordinators, and Managers are ready to deliver exceptional results.
Jason Rowe joined 1st Choice Construction in 2015 and leads the information technology strategy for 1st Choice Construction. He is responsible for developing and implementing technology policies and goals for the operations of the company.
Jason comes from an extensive construction background that comprises high-end custom millwork, ground-up construction, and concrete/grade work. During his career path with 1st Choice Construction, he started as a lead carpenter; with his proven ability to manage and direct projects, he moved up from that position to Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Regional Operations Manager, and now Director of Information Technology.
Sallie Moore is the Director of Business Development at 1st Choice Construction since the spring of 2018. In her role, Sallie leads the company’s sales and business development strategy with a specific focus on the company’s main core competency of interior renovations. She has several years of experience in the multifamily industry ranging from pre-construction design to the successful completion of high volume, high impact renovation projects. Her passion and admiration for renovations are what fuels her enthusiasm to develop a solid reputation for herself and the company as a credible, reliable resource to everyone she comes in contact with. Sallie is consistently researching and learning new market trends to provide the best insight for our customers to ensure the greatest return on their investments and highest resident satisfaction. As a mom of two, her personal time is spent on the rugby field among other unique places, exploring new parks and trails as well as making friends with colleagues outside of the typical work environment.
Bill Powell joined 1st Choice Construction in 2015 and is responsible for leading our regional operations in Raleigh, NC. With nearly two decades of construction experience as a licensed general contractor, Bill brings a vast array of construction knowledge to our team through the lead-management of multi-million dollar projects. His proven ability to guide teams throughout the construction process, as well as his ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors, has propelled Bill to attain new levels of success during his career at 1st Choice Construction. Bill graduated with a BAA in Construction Technology from Central Michigan University and is a licensed NASCLA General Contractor.
Paige Knudson joined the company in 2016 and works within the Estimating Department as the Estimating Manager. She oversees many of the beginning stages of a proposal and works closely with many members of the 1st Choice team to see a project to its completion. Paige holds a Business Degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and currently resides in the Greater Charlotte area.
Michael Knapp joined 1st Choice Construction in 2017 as a Project Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has over twenty years of experience in residential and commercial construction and industrial demolition. In 2019, Michael relocated to Atlanta in order to open the branch and grow 1st Choice within the greater Atlanta region. We have since built an amazing team to offer the Atlanta area with unmatched client services to the multi-family and commercial construction industries.
Brent Laverty joined 1st Choice Construction in 2017 and is responsible for the management of operations, estimating, and client relations throughout our Charleston, SC market. He coordinates with clients and trade partners on all business initiatives and he has a solid reputation for delivering prompt, successful results. Brent began his career at 1st Choice as a Project Manager Assistant in Raleigh, NC, and, through exceptional work, was promoted to several key positions with his most recent appointment in 2018 to Regional Manager. A graduate of UNCG in 2013, Brent and his family relocated to Charleston, SC where he is currently developing our reputable brand image.
